Beautiful Outdoor Spaces

Landscaping is so much more than just the planning and planting of a garden.

Landscaping adds market value to your property, but mentally and emotionally beautiful outdoor spaces gift you so much more.

A well-designed garden will invite you to spend more time outdoors and therefore improve your quality of life, increases your physical activity and offers you the mental healing properties of nature. Walking through a garden improves attention, focus and memory. It lowers stress levels. To care for a small plant and see it grows as you nurture it daily, is just so rewarding. It gives you purpose and makes you believe in tomorrow. Just like interior decorators, landscapers design and install gardens that fit the style, personality and needs of each individual customer. The use of focal points, garden rooms and areas that blends the outdoors with the indoors, is what make for a successful project. Being in the landscaping business for nearly 20 years, we’ve build a close work-relationship with a variety of horticulturists, landscape designers, builders, residential estates and developers. We help them to bring their projects from paper to real life.

Here are examples of some of the gardens that we’ve installed:

  • Gardens with terraces

  • Gardens with sculptures

  • Gardens with large trees and shrubs

  • Water features, running water and birdsong

  • Gardens that attracts wildlife and birds

  • Edible gardens

  • Classical English gardens

  • Contemporary gardens

  • Whimsical gardens

  • Minimalist / Water wise gardens

  • Cacti gardens

  • Fragrance areas (next to bedroom window)

  • Use of colour

  • Meditation garden

  • Sensory walking surfacesLow maintenance

  • Romantic gardens

  • Gardens for families

  • Gardens with pets

  • Pots as features

With clever landscaping design we can control (otherwise damaging) storm water by directing it away from the home or even store it underground for later use, irrigation or drinking water (after filtering processes).

Hard Scaping and Garden Features

Hardscaping refers to hard landscape materials that are incorporated into a landscape. This can include paving, exposed aggregate, polished concrete, gabion walls, retaining walls, sleeper or concrete stepping blocks, stairs, walkways, decking, pergolas, fencing, large rock features, pebble, chip stone, privacy screens, cladding, flower boxes, edging, and any other landscaping made up of hard wearing materials such as wood, stone, and concrete. Softscaping is the horticultural elements or plants of a landscape.

Hard landscaping is the first step of your garden installation. EcoScapes are well known as experts in the field of hard landscaping. Our team are extremely well trained with loads of experience when it comes to concrete work and installation of hard surfaces.

In short, hardscaping follows the same principles and is just like softscaping, only hard to the touch materials are used in this case. The function or main aim of using hardscaping is to create elements that will last long, as well as aesthetically compliment the softscaping features of your landscape. It brings an element and feature with low maintenance and easy cleaning.

Hardscaping is an essential part of creating the ideal outdoor space. ... Hardscaping offers landscaping solutions that are both appealing and functional. It allows for the creation of spaces that serve a purpose and are pleasing to the eye at the same time.

Natural Pools

Natural garden pool or Living pool

Natural pools are filtered organically rather than by chemicals.

We direct the pool water through a natural ecosystem consisting of gravel, stone, water and plants. This results in a pool that’s no less clean than a chemically-filtered pool.

Are natural pools high maintenance?

Organic or natural pools require much less maintenance than a conventional pool, and their year-to-year costs are lower after construction is finished.

Do natural pools breed mosquitos?

No. Still standing water is required for mosquitos to breed.

The water of a natural pool is circulated by the use of pool pumps, through plants and gravel.

Artificial Lawn

Premium Artificial Lawn

We are approved installers of artificial lawn.

We design the area to work best for its purpose; select materials that will stand the test of time and plants that will thrive in their surroundings. Our quality and professionally installed artificial lawn last between 20-25 years. It adds value to your property, and you can expect the return on your investment (vs natural lawn) within 2.5 years.

A key part of installing artificial lawn is the preparation. Drainage and levels prevent the grass from becoming waterlogged in the event of heavy rains. Artificial lawn looks so natural these days. They have “dead grass” in between – adding to a very realistic appearance.

MOLE BARRIER: When installing artificial lawn in an area known to have a mole problem, we make use of the mole barrier. It prevents moles from tunnelling and surfacing under newly installed lawn.

Artificial lawn VS Natural lawn:

Synthetic grass is:

  • Low maintenance – no need for fertilizer, mowing or garden services

  • Weather-resistant – does not lose its colour due to the sun

  • Water-wise – no watering required

  • Pet friendly – pets love artificial lawn – simply rinse

  • Child friendly – children love to play on artificial lawn

  • Popular demand – Aesthetic appeal and easy to care for

Can dogs pee and poop on artificial lawn? YES

Artificial lawn doesn’t absorb dog urine, waste or smell. Dog urine drains away similar to rain water; no build up. Simply scoop up the waste, and hose down the area.

We install many different thicknesses for different purposes. Sometimes grass IS greener on the other side…because it’s artificial!

What makes artificial lawn look realistic and real?

  • Professional installation – nothing sub-standard is acceptable. Seams and edges must be perfectly matched. Correct levels and preparation for drainage is extremely important

  • Product – Quality product with a guarantee that colour will not fade. Choose a product with a variety of colour, shape and some “dead grass”, just like real grass

  • Proper care – Occasionally groom your lawn with a stiff bristled broom or rake to lift the grass blades and fibres.

Garden Irrigation Systems

EcoScapes has a dedicated irrigation department and irrigation team on the road.

Our irrigation team services the greater Cape Winelands and Northern subburbs.

We stock most irrigation parts and do same-day installations and repairs when possible.

Our team is dedicated irrigation experts that work with you to design the right system for your garden. We are passionate about saving water, especially in our beloved Western Cape. We constantly focus on learning new and modern practices for ensuring your system functions perfectly for decades to come.

 We install:

  • Manual systems,

  • Automated controller systems and

  • Wi-Fi-enabled irrigation controllers

Irrigation systems can be installed using drip-irrigation, stand-up sprayers, mist-pipes, pop-up sprayers, riser pipes and many more. EcoScapes Irrigation Systems builds “smart” irrigation systems that use the latest technology to reduce your water consumption, saving you money while conserving water. Designing and installing an irrigation system is one of the biggest upgrades you’ll make to your home, so make sure you choose the right company to do it. For our automated irrigation systems we use Hunter sprinkler systems.

We use Hydrawise systems for smart technology Wi-Fi irrigation management:

A Hydrawise irrigation system can:

  • Save you up to 50% on your water bill

  • The system reads the latest weather report and water the garden accordingly.

  • It picks up on any pipe or trouble issues and alert you

  • The system can be shut down from your phone

  • The rain sensor also shuts down the system, should an unexpected rain occur.

Many times irrigation pipes need to be installed or repaired under existing paving i.e. driveways or pathways; In which case we have our EcoScapes paving team, ready to effortlessly do all our paving repairs due to irrigation installations.

Note: A good idea is to always put PVC sleeves under paved driveways and paths for future projects that may require fibre, cables and pipes to go under these structures.
